The Estate of Antognolla is a 15-minute drive from Perugia, Umbria’s cosmopolitan capital, and 35 Km from Perugia’s S.Egidio International Airport. The airports of Rome, Florence, Pisa and Ancona are within a comfortable driving distance. There is easy access from Antognolla to the nearby E45 Superstrata and the A1 Autostrada, leading to many of Umbria’s most beautiful and unspoilt towns and hilltop villages, among which are Assisi, one of the world’s great pilgrimage centers whose grand basilica contains a magnificent series of frescoes by Giotto;
Perugia, home of the Eurochocolate and
Umbria Jazz Festivals; Spoleto, home of the internationally renowned Festival of the Two Worlds; Orvieto, known for its magnificent setting, wonderful white wine and beautiful cathedral; Gubbio, one of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval towns in Italy; Deruta, famed for its centuries old tradition in ceramics, and Todi, once voted the most livable town in the world.
Tennis is available at nearby Umbertide. Lake Trasimeno, the largest lake on the mainland of Italy, is 25 minutes by car and offers sailing and wind surfing. Canoeing is available on the nearby Tiber River. The Thermal Spas at Fontecchio and Assisi are within a 30-minute drive.
A pleasant day trip might include an
excursion to the petrified forest in
Dunarobba or a visit to the spectacular
Marmore waterfalls, with nearby rafting and
canoeing in the rapids of the Nera River, or
perhaps an exploration of the Nature Park of
Monte Cucco, popular with hang gliders and
cross-country skiers and offering one of the
world's deepest subterranean systems.
